The Medium is the Message
When QPHS Class 68 published two
magazines covering extensive coverage of the life and times of classmates, there
were so many photos and articles which did not get printed due to space
limitations.
The third magazine is planned to
come out as a photo essay instead of TIME style and PEOPLE magazine style
of feature writing, but the price of printing a colored pictorial for a
magazine has gone up to a six digit thousands of pesos.
The cyberspace is an alternative
to time-consuming printed material. But lo and behold, majority of our
classmates do not have e-mail yet and have no access to the
internet during our
30th year reunion in May 1998. There is a wide gap
between the so called 'digital divide', i.e., between the
technological haves and have not among us.
Lately, the interest to join the
information highway has picked up among us. Many classmates are now in the
threshold of virtually paperless communication exchanging e-mail
greetings and pictures of several celebrations.
Also the presence of cyber cafe
areas in Lucena with internet access for a
fee of 30 pesos proved to be very
handy especially those who want to have a
glimpse of the myriad of
opportunities internet can provide.
Information highway has therefore
finally breathed more life and verve to class 68's
humdrum being.
