It will be a year- long celebration in Lucena City for Quezon
Provincial/National High School's 100th year from its foundation.
The
Executive Committee headed by
Fiscal Romeo Dato, also an alumnus and current principal Roman
Salazar announced that the festivities will commence on October 1, 2001
culminating in a glittering banquet peppered with ceremonies and
programs a year after at the Queen Marguerite ballroom in the outskirts
of Lucena.
Former Congressman Danny Suarez , ’58 will host a dinner-dance
at the Lucena Convention Center December 14, 2001.
A parade along the thoroughfares of Lucena on October 1st, 2001 will
usher the start of this grand affair to drum up interest for graduates
to participate. Another grand parade slated on October 2nd 2002
will cap the grand reunion of graduates expected to attend from all over
the Philippines and abroad. Already hundreds of graduates in
Europe, Canada, USA , Middle East, Australia have expressed
interest this early through various exchange of e-mails and alumni
website bulletin boards.
A separate booth at the school site will be encouraged for each
class year in order to foster camaraderie among former graduates for at
least a week prior to October 2nd, 2002.
In,
Toronto, Canada, a group of alumni spearheaded by Bal Yujuico ’68 and
Bella Aman ’73 have organized a centennial bash fund-raising dinner
dance to be held on July 20, 2002 at Thornhill Community Centre Banquet
Hall in North Toronto.
“It will be a party all night long with a capacity of 550
attendees followed by excursion trips to Niagara Falls and possibly
Montreal.” ,
the group organizers announced.
Pls refer to the icons “Invitation”
and “Contact Us”
on the above websites for further details such as map direction
and other information.
The Quezon High centennial party in Toronto coincides with the week-long
World Catholic Youth Rally July 23-28, 2002 to be held in
this city as declared by the Pope. It will be attended by some
100,000 visitors from all over the world. "We hope that youth
delegates who are students or graduates of Quezon High can have some
time with us here in Toronto, Canada to share this precious moment"
the organizers continued. Invitation letters for visitor's visa
purposes will be issued to interested graduates from abroad.
"We are deeply encouraged with the enthusiasm and cooperation
demonstrated by former graduates and we are thankful to whatever help
each of them will provide towards the success of this event",
expressed Mr. Dato in an overseas call.
The centennial Executive Committee will again meet on September 20, 2001
in Lucena to discuss further details of this grand reunion.
The Committee will provide an update which will be posted on
this class 1968 website.
Communication links, a nostalgic tour of Quezon High campus and a forum
icon for graduates are available in this site. In a month's time,
another independent website exclusive to the centennial celebration is
being constructed by Toronto group in order to hasten electronic e-mails
among graduates.
In another light, Quezon High already applied for sisterhood with any
school in San Diego, California through the International Sister Cities
Corporation. "We received already a positive response and we
are also prepared for any group meetings of former graduates
of Quezon High in the USA and Canada in the coming months to explain our
school's projects", Salazar noted in his communique to graduates.
"I am looking forward for this plan to push through and for the
success of the 100th year celebration of Quezon National High
School." Salazar continued.
